THE LAYING ON OF HANDS

(Updated on 01 01 2024)

1- Introduction

The laying on of hands is a biblical and spiritual practice, which consists of praying for people, or blessing people, by laying hands on them. It is a very important spiritual act and also very risky. The laying on of hands involves the transmission or transfer of power and authority. In other words, between the one laying hands, and the one on whom the hands are laid, there is always a transfer of power. This is what makes the laying on of hands a great spiritual danger. The danger of the laying on of hands is all the greater that God has found it necessary to warn about it. This is what we read in 1Timothy 5:22. "Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people's sins; keep yourself pure." This teaching is part of another very important teaching called "Deliverance", which you will find on mcreveil.org website.

2- What happens during the laying on of hands

The laying on of hands is above all a spiritual warfare. And as in all spiritual warfare, opposing spiritual powers are in conflict, and the greater power wins. There are several situations in which the laying on of hands occurs. Let us examine them:

1- If the one laying on his hands is a true child of God, and if the one on whom the hands are laid is also a child of God, the transmission of power is done without a hitch. In other words, the prayer is done successfully on both sides. He on whom the hands are laid receives the power that is transmitted to him, and recovers his healing or his deliverance; and he who laid on the hands receives from the Lord a renewal of the power and of the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

2- If the one laying on his hands is a true child of God, and if the one on whom the hands are laid is an agent of satan, there will be conflict. The transmission of power can either be done with difficulty, or not at all, or rather in the opposite direction. This means that if the agent of satan on whom hands are laid is more powerful than the Child of God who took the risk of laying hands on without discernment, this agent of satan will transfer his satanic power to the one praying. The one who prays can then be possessed by the demons that the agent of satan has transferred to him.

3- If the one laying on his hands is an agent of satan, and if the one on whom the hands are laid is a true child of God, there will be conflict. Here too, the transmission of power can either be done with difficulty, or not at all, or rather in the opposite direction. This means that if the Child of God on whom hands are laid is more powerful than the agent of satan who took the risk of tempting God, the power of this agent of satan will be annihilated by the power of God, and the Child of God will escape this attempt of initiation into witchcraft, and by the grace of God will not receive the demons that the agent of satan wanted to transfer to him.

4- If the one laying on his hands is an agent of satan, and if the one on whom the hands are laid is a child of God who is not spiritually strong enough, the agent of satan will transfer the power of satan to him, and possess him by demons. This Child of God will then be initiated into witchcraft, and will be possessed of all the unclean spirits that the agent of satan has transferred to him.

5- If the one laying on his hands is an agent of satan, and if the one on whom the hands are laid is another agent of satan, the more powerful of the two will draw the power of the other, to complement his own. Do not forget that in satan, it is competition that reigns. Everyone wants to be the strongest and the most powerful. They very often wage war on each other, and often even destroy each other, to become more powerful. Satan's camp is a real jungle. The strongest devour the weakest.

This is in fact what happens when hands are laid on. So it is not for nothing that the Lord warns His children against the hasty and undiscerning laying on of hands. Children of God should avoid laying hands on people in any way. It is then important for every Child of God to know when to lay hands, whom to lay hands on, and on what occasion or circumstance to lay hands.

3- The laying on of hands and deliverance

While you can actually afford to lay hands on almost every possible situation, it is important to note that there are some cases that do not require the laying on of hands. This is the case of deliverance, which consists in driving out the demons that possess a person. For this type of case, the word of authority alone is sufficient. Therefore, Children of God, remember that you do not need to lay hands on people when the problem of these people is only demonic possession. This is what we see in the following passages:

Matthew 17:14-18 "14And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, 15"Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16"So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him." 17Then Jesus answered and said, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me." 18And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour."

Acts 16:16-18 "16Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. 17This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, "These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation." 18And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And he came out that very hour."

4- The laying on of hands and healing

As far as diseases are concerned, you can afford to lay hands on each case, with discernment of course. The power of healing is in the laying on of the hands of true Children of God. This is the promise the Lord made to His disciples in Mark 16:17-18 "17And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18"they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

This is what the Lord Jesus Himself and His Apostles did during their ministries.

Mark 6:5 "Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them."

Luke 4:40 "When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them."

Acts 28:8 "And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him."

There are cases that involve deliverance and healing. In such cases, you can use both methods that God has made available to His children: The word of authority, and the laying on of hands. This is what we see Jesus doing in the passage below:

Luke 13:11-16 "11And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. 12But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, "Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity." 13And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. 14But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, "There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day." 15The Lord then answered him and said, "Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? 16"So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound - think of it - for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?"

But even in such cases where the word of authority and the laying on of hands are used, you must be able to distinguish between deliverance and healing. When you look closely at the case of Luke 13:12-13 that we have just read, you can see that Jesus applied both solutions in the same case, but in a very separate way. "12But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, "Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity." 13And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God." Jesus used the word of authority to deal with the problem of demonic possession, saying, "Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity". Then Jesus laid his hands on her to deal with the aspect of sickness: "13And He laid His hands on her".

Dear brethren, even if laying on hands for deliverance is not a sin, remember nevertheless that it is ignorance. You do not need the laying on of hands to cast out demons. Rather, you need it to heal the diseases caused by those demons you have cast out.

5- The laying on of hands and baptism of the Holy Spirit

The laying on of hands is a practice that extends beyond healing. It can also be used for prayer for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. This is what we read in the following passages:

Acts 8:14-17 "14Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, 15who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit."

Acts 19:1-7 "And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples 2he said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" So they said to him, "We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." 3And he said to them, "Into what then were you baptized?" So they said, "Into John's baptism." 4Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus." 5When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied."

6- The laying on of hands and prayers of recommendation

In addition to healing cases and praying for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the laying on of hands can also be used to pray and commend God's children to God for a given mission, for a trip, or even to raise a child of God as a minister of God. This is revealed in the following passages:

Acts 6:1-6 "In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. 2So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, "It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. 3Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them 4and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word." 5This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. 6They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them."

Acts 13:1-3 "Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 2As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." 3Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away."

1Timothy 4:14 "Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you."

2Timothy 1:6 "For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands."

7- The laying on of hands and blessings

The laying on of hands can also be used for blessings, as this passage from Matthew 19:13-15 tells us "13Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. 14But Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven." 15And He laid His hands on them and departed from there."

8- Dangers of the laying on of hands

What happens during the laying on of hands highlights the dangers of this act when it is done in haste, and especially when it is done without discernment. By allowing anyone to lay hands on them during moments of deliverance or prayer, Children of God expose themselves to many dangers including initiation into witchcraft, curses, and incantations. Indeed, when a sorcerer lays his hands on you, it is his demons that he sends into you, and not the Spirit of God. And of course it is not God's blessing that can come from these demons, it is the curse.

Children of God must also understand that by laying hands on people, they expose themselves to two great dangers: on the one hand, the risk of demonic possession if they fall into the trap of praying for agents of satan more powerful than themselves, and on the other hand, the risk of participating in the sins of dishonest people who use trickery and lies to ask for prayer, while hiding their sins. If you lay hands on hypocrites who voluntarily live in sin, and choose not to confess their sins, you will be sharing in their sins.

9- Women and the laying on of hands

Children of God, who know that God in the Holy Bible has formally forbidden women to teach or become elders in the Church, often wonder if a woman can lay hands on people. We have just studied what the laying on of hands implies. The laying on of hands is not only a ministry of spiritual warfare, but it is also a ministry of authority. It is therefore not the work of women who belong to Jesus and desire to enter Heaven.

All you women, true sisters in Christ who belong to Jesus Christ the true God, never imitate these mermaids of the waters who have created ministries and who call themselves "servants of God", usurping the titles of pastors, evangelists, etc. All these Jezebels are agents of Hell, sent to seduce the ignorant and pollute the Church. If you copy what they do, you will burn with them in Hell. Remember once and for all, that all these Jezebels that you call "women pastors", "women evangelists", "women teachers", women prophetesses who have their own ministry, "women apostles" or simply "women elders", are witches. They are demons sent from the world of darkness to seduce and lead astray as many people as possible.

If you value your salvation, flee from all the churches led by these witches, and flee from all the demon pastors who appoint them. If you were baptized by such witches, if one of them ever laid hands on you, if one of those witches ever prayed for your deliverance, know that you have been initiated into witchcraft, and that you are possessed.

Another question that brothers often ask is whether a woman can at least lay hands on her children. I will answer this question with other questions. Does she want to lay hands on the children because there is no one else to do so? Is there no mature brother to do it? Can't she just pray for the children without laying hands on them?

Even if nothing prevents a woman from praying for her children by laying hands on them, you must keep in mind that the danger of laying hands remains the same. If the so-called child on whom you want to lay hands is an agent of satan, (and these kinds of demons so-called children are very numerous nowadays in families, including Christian families), you woman laying hands on him will pay the price. If your child on whom you want to lay hands is an agent of satan more powerful than you are, expect the serious consequences of your thoughtless act.

10- Warning

Children of God, never fall into the trap of praying for people who ask you to lay hands on them. They are agents of satan. All those who ask you to pray for them, by expressly asking you to lay hands on them, are agents of satan, who are setting traps for you. If you fall into the trap of laying hands on them, not only will they suck all your power, they will cancel the anointing of the Holy Spirit on your life, and will be able to reach you through their incantations. Remember that no true child of God can ask you to pray, and tell you how you should pray for Him. This is therefore an element of discernment with which you will catch the agents of satan. And if you know so-called Christians who have made such requests to you in the past, you will recognize them now. They are demons.

11- Conclusion

The laying on of hands is not limited in its use. It ranges from healing and blessings, to praying for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and praying for the commendation of God's children to God for various reasons. Only its application needs to be supervised. In other words, the laying on of hands should not be a matter of pride, glory, demonstration of power, or entertainment. Any serious Child of God, in order to engage in the laying on of hands, must be assured that he is spiritually strong enough to do so safely. Never engage in the laying on of hands without discernment. "Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people's sins; keep yourself pure." 1Timothy 5:22.

Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love!
